Where have I been ?

Is it really more than a week allready since my last post? Amazing how time flies.... But that is how it goes when you are busy!

Let's see, what have I done... Well... firstly back to school, which as we all know takes some organising... Then loads of admin backlog... you all know that one... bills to pay, companies to phone (press 6, press 3, press 1, press 5, we now cannot direct you to an adviser, please consult our website.. grrrr.....), know that one?

Luckily also got some more enjoyable things in. In the weekend I went to a charming little village near Dover, Church Hougham, where they were holding their tri-annual village fete and craft fair. It was lovely, the church itself full of quilts;
The organist (sitting amongst the quilts) did a marathon of fantastic playing whilst we meandered along the aisles. It was beautiful and whilst he might not read this, any quilter who does and knows him, please tell him how much I appreciated it. It made for a perfect atmosphere and the playing was just lovely!

There were quilts in every nook and cranny....

even up at the altar was a yesteryear display;

The entire village took part and there were many houses who had things going on in their gardens. There were bookstalls, cakestalls, bric a brac, an archery range, dog displays and many more demonstrations like the morris dancing here;

In the art and craft village (lots of roomy marquees next to the vicarage) lots of yumminess was to be found...

I especially liked this range of these wonderful reds

.....mmmmm..... I can see a quilt in that wonderful warm colour for the wintermonths... can just feel myself wrapped up cozily when the wind blows outside.....

What a lovely place to display the quilts. Looks like you had a very nice day out. I agree with you about those reds, very nice indeed. So many beautiful fabrics to buy, did you but any?

What a lovely old church to hang the quilts in! The fete reminds me of a English detective series that used to be on TV but I can't remember the name. Oh and I like the nice new picture on your banner.

Thanks Catherine! It might be 'Midsommer murders', that is the series it reminded everyone of at the fete of! Lots of jokes about hoping there would not be a murder and thankfully there wasn't! A typically english village fete though and the ladies of the village were on their feet all day. They did so well! and were very hospitable.

Oh yes, it reminded me of Midsommer Murders, you would have been expecting Barnaby to turn up any minute!!! What a wonderful day you must have had Marguerite. I visited a couple of English churches when i was there for 10 days a few years ago now, and they are amazing places. Wonderful to have live music as you wander through the quilts. xo

oooh, I really liked the stripey-diamond quilt next to the one with the hearts....wouldn't that be divine in reds and creams???? So glad you have had some time to get out and about with all of the back to school and bill paying...must have been nice to just wander around seeing beautiful things and hearing soothing sounds!! :)

Your lovely photos made it seem as if I too was at the quilt fair - especially when I clicked on them and could see the lovely detail in the quilts and the fabric. The fabric was especially yummy - I would like that one and that one and that one was going through my head.

You are one busy lady.

We have a local folk school here (John C. Campbell Folk School if you wanna look it up online) that has it's own morris dancers. Cool to see some here too.
